Ingredients For Homemade Gingerbread Raisin Scones

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk or milk
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon molasses
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 large eggs, divided and beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raisins

How To Make Homemade Gingerbread Raisin Scones?

  1. Preheat oven to 385°F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger powder, baking powder, and cloves in a food processor and pulse to combine. You can also use a stand mixer with the paddle attachment and mix for one minute at a slow speed.
  3. Add butter and pulse or mix on slow speed until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.
  4. For a stand mixer, add one beaten egg, milk, molasses, and vanilla and mix for about 30 seconds or until the scone dough comes together.
  5. If using a processor, combine the above liquids in a bowl, then add the Add flour mixture and raisins stirring gently with a fork until dough forms.
  6. Gather the scone dough into a ball.
  7. On a lightly floured surface, pat it down to 1 inch in thickness.
