Old-fashioned Honey Wheat Bread Recipe

This is a delicious old-fashioned honey wheat bread recipe made with a combination of white flour, whole wheat flour, and rye flour. This old-fashioned wheat bread is perfect for any meal, breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups water; lukewarm
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3 cups white flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rye flour

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve yeast in water in a large bowl. Add salt, honey, molasses, and butter, 1 1/2 cups of white flour, and all the wheat flour.
  • Beat and add all the rye flour and 1 1/2 cups white flour.
  • Knead in additional white flour as needed to make a soft dough that is not sticky.
  • Continue kneading for about 10 minutes.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and et rise for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Punch the dough down. Put in 2 greased loaf pans. Let rise until double and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Remove from pans and cool on racks.
