Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup plain yorgurt
  • 1/2 cup raisins optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), and line a flat baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  • Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the center of the mixture.
  • In a small mixing bowl combine egg white and milk and yogurt.
  • Add all at once to dry the mixture and include the raisins which are optional. Stir just till moistened.
  • On a lightly floured surface knead dough 12 to 14 strokes till the dough is nearly smooth.
  • Shape the dough into a 7-inch round loaf.
  • Place soda bread dough on a lightly greased baking pan and score the top with a sharp knife, making 2 slashes to form an X.
  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes or till golden.
  • Remove from the oven and Serve warm.
