Put the butter and oil into a pot heat on medium low.
When butter is melted, add the semolina into the pot and stir, cook for 10 minutes.
Add your choice of either the peanuts, walnuts, almond or pistachio and continue cooking the mixture for 5 minutes.
Add the sugar and stir. When you notice the color of the semolina turning brown, add the water.
Do not forget to take precautions against splashes when adding milk and water or milk.
Stir a couple of times over low heat until the syrup is completely absorbed by the mixture. Remove from heat and let it cool down.
You can shape your halva or serve it as is in a bowl.
Garnish the top with pistachio, pine nuts, almonds or walnuts.
You can also top this dessert with fresh fruit, blueberries, raspberries or strawberries.
