Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup ground almonds
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup candy sprinkles
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract optional
  • Food coloring optional

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, combine ground almonds, granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup of water.
  • Cook the mixture over medium heat while stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture forms a syrup, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Once the mixture has cooled slightly, transfer it to a cutting board or a clean surface and carefully knead it until it forms a smooth dough. Be sure to work quickly as the dough will harden as it cools.
  • If desired, add vanilla extract or food coloring and knead the dough until well combined.
  • Form the dough into a ball and place it in a covered glass bowl. Allow the dough to rest for at least 12 hours.
  • After the dough has rested, take it out of the bowl and shape it into small balls and roll them into candy sprinkles, You can also form the marzipan into your different shapes.
