- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (1/4 cup), melted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg beaten
- Ingredients For Cinnamon Scone Filling
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
Preheat oven to 420°F or 215°C, and line a cookie on one baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder and whisk together.
Combine the beaten egg, butter, and buttermilk with the flour of the flour mixture. Using a fork mix together just until the scone dough comes together, then turn it over onto a floured working surface and knead 3 or 4 times just to bring the dough together.
Pat dough shaping it into a rectangle, about 10×16 inches, then fold the long side over the dough and slight pat down and seal the edges at the end. You will end up with a 5 by 16 inch rectangle.
Slice cinnamon scone dough into 4 rectangles, every 5X4 inches, then diagonally slice each rectangle ending up with 8 triangle-shaped scones.
Place the scones on the lined baking, and separate them about 2 inches apart.
Bake the cinnamon scones for 16-18 minutes or until firm and lightly browned.
Serve warm or cool completely.
Enjoy!
