  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, (1/4 cup), melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten

How To Make Cinnamon Scones Without Cinnamon Chips?

  1. Preheat oven to 420°F or 215°C, and line a cookie on one baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder and whisk together.
  3. Combine the beaten egg, butter, and buttermilk with the flour of the flour mixture. Using a fork mix together just until the scone dough comes together, then turn it over onto a floured working surface and knead 3 or 4 times just to bring the dough together.
  4. Pat dough shaping it into a rectangle, about 10×16 inches.
  5. Place cinnamon filling evenly along one, long side of the rectangle.
  6. Fold the long side of the dough over the filling and seal the edges. You will end up with a rectangle of about 5×16 inches.
