This easy Turkish semolina halva recipe can be quickly prepared. Semolina halva a is a delicious popular Turkish dessert that can be enjoyed every day.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of semolina
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1/4 cup peanuts, pine nuts or pistachio (crushed)
For The Syrup
1 cup of granulated sugar
2 cups of water or milk
Garnish
- Walnuts, Pistachio, Peanuts or Almonds
Instructions
- Put the butter and oil into a pot heat on medium low.
- When butter is melted, add the semolina into the pot and stir, cook for 10 minutes.
- Add your choice of either the peanuts, walnuts, almond or pistachio and continue cooking the mixture for 5 minutes.
- Add the sugar and stir. When you notice the color of the semolina turning brown, add the water.
- Do not forget to take precautions against splashes when adding milk and water or milk.
- Stir a couple of times over low heat until the syrup is completely absorbed by the mixture. Remove from heat and let it cool down.
- You can shape your halva or serve it as is in a bowl.
- Garnish the top with pistachio, pine nuts, almonds or walnuts.
- You can also top this dessert with fresh fruit, blueberries, raspberries or strawberries.
