Ingredients For OldFashioned Honey Wheat Bread
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups water; lukewarm
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3 cups white flour
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 cups rye flour
How To Make Old-fashioned Honey Wheat Bread?
- Dissolve yeast in water in a large bowl. Add salt, honey, molasses, and butter, 1 1/2 cups of white flour, and all the wheat flour.
- Beat and add all the rye flour and 1 1/2 cups white flour.
- Knead in additional white flour as needed to make a soft dough that is not sticky.
- Continue kneading for about 10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 1/2 hours.
- Punch the dough down. Put in 2 greased loaf pans. Let rise until double and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Remove from pans and cool on racks.
