2 c Snack-cake mix 3 1/2 tb Shortening
3/4 ts Cloves, divided 1/2 c Applesauce
1/2 ts Cinnamon 1/3 c Sliced almonds
1 Egg, slightly beaten 1 ts Sugar
In 8-inch layer-cake or square pan, stir cake mix, 1/2 t cloves &
cinnamon with rubber spatula until well blended. Stir in egg,
shortening & applesauce until well blended. Scrape down sides of
pan. Sprinkle evenly with almonds, sugar and remaining 1/4 t cloves.
Bake in preheated 375 degree oven 30 minutes. Cool in pan on rack.
