Ingredients & Directions


6 c Flour 4 Eggs (save one yellow)
2 oz 1 1/2 pk yeast Salt
1/2 c Oil 1 tb Sugar

Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. Mix all other
ingredients in a large bowl and kneed well. Add yeast mixture and
kneed thoroughly. Cover and rise. Kneed a second time. Cover and
rose. Kneed and make 6 balls and kneed each weel. Cover and rise.
Kneed each ball and make into long snakelike strips. Braid in 6 for
long bread. Braid in 5 and divide the 6th into 3 braided for Sabbath
crown or braid in 6 round for holiday bread. Cover and rise. Spread
slightly beaten egg yolk on top and bake 350 degrees approx 1 hour
till brown. If top starts to brown too soon, cover with brown paper
bag.
