  • 2 cups all purpose flour plus some for dusting
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F or 205°C, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, add the flour, baking powder, and salt, and stir together.
  • Cut in butter into the flour with a fork or pastry cutter, you can also work the butter with your fingertips until small clumps are formed, about the size of small peas.
  • Stir in the buttermilk with a spatula or fork until the mixture comes together. If the dough is a bit wet, you can adjust the consistency by adding 1 or 2 tablespoons of flour.
  • Transfer the biscuit dough onto a floured working surface and press it together.
