Ingredients & Directions

1 c Butter
1/2 c Sugar
1 Egg
1 tb Almond or vanilla extract
2 2/3 c Flour
1/2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Salt
Jelly or Thin Confectioners
Sugar Icing

Heat oven to 375. Mix butter, sugar, egg & flavoring until creamy.
Mix dry ingredients; blend into butter mixture. Divide dough in half.
Reserve half for trim. Roll remaining half into two rectangles,
12*6″, on well floured cloth covered board. Cut each rectangle
lengthwise in 3 equal strips. With spatula, carefully lift each strip
onto ungreased baking sheet, placing 1″ apart. Spoon reserved cookie
dough into cookie press. If dough is too dry to go through press,
work in 1-2 tsp. cream. Using smallest star design, press out in long
ropes on each side of each strip & also one down center. Bake about
10 minutes or until edges are browned. Cool. Fill in between the rows
of “trim” with jelly or Icing. Cut carefully 1″ diagonal pieces with
sharp knife.
