One Pan English Muffin Bread

Ingredients For One Loaf English Muffin Bread

  • 3 cups flour (360 grams)
  • 1 cup milk (240 grams), lukewarm
  • 2 tablespoons water (30 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil (15 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons dry active yeast (6 grams)
  • 2 teaspoon sugar (10 grams)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (1 gram)
  • 1 teaspoon cornmeal (3 grams), for topping (optional)

How To Make One Loaf English Muffin Bread?

  1. Place all the ingredients into a bowl of a stand mixer and mix on slow speed for 6 minutes, then increase the mixer speed and continue to mix for additional 6 minutes or until the dough is fully developed.
  2. This dough is softer than regular dough, it’s perfectly fine.
  3. Grease a bowl big enough to allow the dough to double in size.
  4. Place the dough in the greased bowl and allow it to rest for 45 minutes.
  5. Transfer the dough onto a floured working surface and shape it into an oval and roll it onto cornmeal, then place it into a 5 x 8-inch loaf pan.
  6. Cover and allow it to proof double in size, about 40-45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Remove the English muffin bread from the oven, then release it from the baking pan.
  9. Cool the loaf on a wire rack.
  10. Slice and serve.

  1.  Add all of the English muffin bread ingredients into the bucket of your bread machine. 
  2. Select the program basic white bread.
  3. If you want the bread to have cornmeal like the traditional English muffin bread, remove it from the bread machine after the kneading is done and roll it in cornmeal.
  4. Then place it back to proof and bake.
  5. Once baked, remove the English muffin bread loaf from the machine, and allow it to cool on a rack.
