Ingredients & Directions


4 c Flour
4 lg Eggs
2 c Sugar
1 tb Butter
Anise seed OR
4 Drops anise oil
1/2 ts Baking powder

Beat eggs thoroughly; add sifted sugar and butter. Beat for 15
minutes. Add enough sifted flour to make a stiff dough. Roll out
about 1/2-inch thick. Sprinkle with flour and press the patterns on
the dough.

Separate the cakes with a dough cutter and place on a board covered
with anise seed or use 4 drops of anise oil stirred into the dough.

Keep in a cool dry place overnight. In the morning bake, in a
moderate oven, 350?, a light brown about 12 minutes.
