Ingredients For French Cherry Clafoutis
- 550 grams black or red cherries, fresh, frozen, or canned
- 80 grams unsalted butter
- 8 large eggs
- 60 grams heavy cream or whipping cream
- 200 grams of sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoon rum (optional)
How To Make French Cherry Clafoutis?
- Remove the stems and pits from the cherries and set them aside.
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- In a bowl beat, add the eggs, vanilla, and 150 grams and beat well.
- Add the rum and stir. Fill the cake pan with the batter, then add the cherries to the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove the clafoutis and put the oven set on the broiler.
- Sprinkle the top of the cherry clafoutis with the leftover sugar remaining sugar and place back into the oven for a few minutes just until the sugar carmelizes. This step is optional and you can skip it.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool, then dust with some icing sugar before serving.
